Cyprus Scout

Hey everybody!  We’ve been quiet here at Cyprus Scout recently.  But now there’s something to show for that silence.  We’ve got a new look and feel, which will please your eyes and, hopefully, will require less clicks to move around.  Not to mention that we finally have a real image of Cyprus at the top of the page.   That’s the beach view at Kurium, if you need an idea.

One thing that should make navigation easier is a fallback to categories.  You see, before we used to have tags on each post.  Tags are very flexible, but they are too flexible.  We were having some posts tagged with “Pafos” and others with “Paphos” and things like that.  With categories there should be more order to things.  And you also have a nice list of all categories on the right.  A number near each category shows how many posts there are.  We’ll be adding more of those, and, eventually, all older posts will be categorized as well.

Another major change introduced today is the calendar of events.  From now on you won’t have to scroll through all recent posts to find out what’s going on and what’s coming.  You have a better way - a real calendar view of all events is one click away.  And it’s powered by Google Calendar, which means that you can easily copy events to your schedule, if you use Google Calendar too.

We are still testing these new additions, so things can be a bit rough around the edges.  Let us know if you notice any glitches and we’ll fix them sooner.
